Underlying truths

OK, the products and recipes look super tasty, but now you want to know the ins and outs before you get stuck in, we get that.

Let's explain what VERO products are made of, how they are made, where they are made, and why they are good.

Made with just 5 familiar ingredients.

Reading food packaging these days can be scary. Often, you have no clue what it is that you are eating and whether it is any good for you.

Why not keep it simple, pure and true. Our ingredient list is just a short read with the top 3 making up over 90% of the ingredients.

Mushrooms make up almost two thirds of our products, and are full of good stuff like protein, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Olive oil, widely known to be a healthy fat that has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Chickpeas, a complete protein as they contain all 9 essential amino acids: the building blocks that help our bodies function properly.

Spices, our secret recipe, though the picture here gives some of it a way.

Soy powder, non-GMO of course, also a complete protein and rich in nutrients.

Simply crafted through a few steps.

How do we create our taste and texture with just these ingredients? While that is our little secret, we can tell you that we only apply simple food processing in our facilities. Just 4 recognizable steps.

  • Mix the ingredients.
  • Slow cook the mixture.
  • Cut into chunks.
  • Flame grill.

That's it!

Made in South Africa.

Local is lekker! Made in Cape Town. This means we support the local economy and employ local people.

We don't have long distance transportation to lower our emmissions.

We avoid any availability issues that imported products face.

Good for mind, body and soul

That also sounds almost to good to be true, right? Yet here we are, offering all this. We're pretty sure you'll be blown away by the taste and texture. Looking at the few ingredients and all their benefits, and how it's made, you should be confident it's good for your body. Now add to this that you are not hurting any animals and contribute positively to the environment (CO2 emissions from plant-based products are up to 50 times lower than most animal-based products).
